Na území České republiky jsme vystopovali původ jména Milar až do roku 1773, kdy se poprvé objevilo v matrice narození č. 9644 na faře Protivanov na Prostějovsku. Před tímto datem se příjmení nepoužívala. V průběhu doby se podoba jména měnila. Od léta 1779 se používalo Millar, v roce 1781 dokonce Millarinus a Millarin. Tvar Milar se používal zase mezi roky 1802 a 1826. Od 1830 se opět oběvuje zdvojené "l" a v období 1840 až 1862 dokonce Müllar. Od roku 1865 se jen s ojedinělými odchylkami (Millar a Milár) používal tvar Milar. Nyní je toto jméno rozšířené především v Olomouci a blízkém okolí. Také v místě jeho původu, tj. v obci Malé Hradisko na Prostějovsku, a na dalších místech Moravy. Výskyt v Čechách je jen ojedinělý.

We retraced the name Milar in the Czech Republic up to year 1773 when it appeared for the first time in the birth register no. 9644 at the vicarage in Protivanov near Prostějov. Before this date the surnames were not used. In times the form of the name changed. Since summer 1997 it was used in foom Millar, in 1781 yet Millarin. The form of Milar was used again between 1802 and 1826. Since 1830 the double "l" appears again, in term from 1840 to 1862 even Müllar. Since the year 1865 the original form of Milar was used with only isolated exceptions (Millar and Milár). These days the name is spread majorly in the townof Olomouc and near by. It is also used in its provenance (the village of Malé Hradisko near the town of Prostějov) and in other parts of Moravia (the eastern part of the Czech Republic). Its occurance in the Bohemia (the western part) is isolated.
